Meet Curt Scharton, the shop manager at A1 Automotive (a1autolincoln.com).

Tell us a little about your business. – A1 Automotive is a family-owned business with a proven record of excellence in automotive repair and exceptional customer service experiences. The A1 Automotive mission statement of “always honest answers” is evidenced by our Google review ratings.

How did you get started in the business? – My family background is strong in mechanical skills and as a teenager I was “tinkering” in the garage on automotive projects. I started my automotive career working on the installation and repair of car audio and electronics systems. This experience motivated me to attend Southeast Community College at Milford with focused studies on Electrical & Electromechanical technologies. Then, I advanced my automotive talent and skills working at a complete auto care location.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – The persistent advancement of automotive technology combined with dynamic marketplace expectations.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – My current job experience as the shop manager, that is to say, this opportunity does maximize my talents and skills. I am very involved with every aspect of the automotive business management.

Tell us a little about your family. – My most important role of father to a teenage daughter is the focus of my time and energy when I am away from work. In 2021, my significant other (otherwise known as girlfriend) and I purchased a home together. It has been a busy year of merging lives, two strong-minded adults, a teenager, a cat, and two dogs.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – The moment when I found out that I was going to be a father. After that point, every moment of life is more exciting and simultaneously nerve wracking.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – I truly enjoy outdoor activities like sitting by a fire, fishing, camping, gun shooting, grilling, and cooking meals.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – Doubtful most people would know, but I am playful and affectionate with my cat and the dogs.

Who inspires you? – Each person in my life, unknowingly, does give pieces of themselves as inspiration to strive for the best version of myself.

What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – My grandfather shared good advice about many aspects of life.

If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Dad.

What is your favorite local Lincoln restaurant? – Unfortunately, my favorite dining locations are not local, I like steak at Round the Bend Steakhouse and burgers at Stella’s Bar & Grill.

If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be? – My grandfather.
