Meet Jen Miseno, Event Coordinator at Sun Valley Lanes & Games (sunvalleylanes.com).

Tell us a little about your business. – We are a family entertainment center that offers bowling, laser tag, Lucky Putt, an arcade, league sand volleyball and a beautiful outdoor greenspace.

How did you get started in the business? – Bowling has always been a major part of my life, so it was no surprise that my very first job was working at a bowling alley. At the time, there were no other girls doing this job. Though I had gone off to do many other things, I was reintroduced to the bowling industry when my friend, John Losito, was looking to fill a vacancy.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Working at Sun Valley Lanes & Games, I get to be part of a world-renowned facility that has been fortunate enough to play host to major national and international tournaments.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – I spent nine years living in upstate New York. Both the move out there and then the return were very life-changing moments for me.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – In the summer, I enjoy playing golf. I’m not great, but I love being outside and appreciate the peace and beauty of the courses.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – Those who are familiar with bowling in Nebraska know that UNL is considered one of the best bowling schools. I was on the very first national championship team in 1991.

Who inspires you? – My daughter definitely inspires me the most. She gets me out of my comfort zone to try new things. Both our jobs are very similar and we often help each other, share ideas and give each other feedback.

What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life? – I think the reason I’m good at what I do is because I do get to utilize my greatest talents.

Which talent would you most like to have? – I would love to be able to pick up any musical instrument and play it.

If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? – At one time, I would have wanted to be a professional bowler.

What local nonprofit are you passionate about and why? – I’m passionate about animals and promote adopting pets. All of my animals have been adopted from a shelter. Someone has to give a voice to those who can’t.

What is your favorite book or the last good book you read? – My all-time favorite book is Where the Sidewalk Ends. I even have a tattoo of the cover on my shoulder.

What is your favorite local restaurant? – My favorite local restaurant is definitely Tico’s. I think I’ve been going there since they opened.

If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be? – Leonardo DaVinci – he was so far ahead of his time with ideas and concepts.
