Meet Makaylee Gayed, real estate agent and property manager at McCombs Commercial Realty.
Tell us a little about your business. – McCombs Commercial Realty (www.mccrealty.com) has been in the commercial real estate industry for over 20 years. We have also been providing Homeowner Association management for over 10 years, and most recently have been able to expand the business even more. We now offer commercial and residential real estate sales/leasing, commercial/residential property management, HOA management, lease administration, first-year warranty services for builders, and handyman services!
How did you get started in the business? – I just kind of stumbled into the job. I had done a lot of management, marketing, and customer service work in the past, and this seemed like a great job where I could utilize all of those skills.
Tell us a little about your family. – My wonderful husband Jason and I have been married for six years now. I have two amazing kids, Bentley (10) and Mia (9). We also have an angel baby together who would be five this year.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – Wait, I get days off? Just kidding. I do like to spend some of my time off working on my social media, newsletters, etc. Otherwise, you will usually find me at the lake boating or traveling. I always enjoy a good book too.
If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Kind. I think with the world the way it is lately, remaining kind is the best way to potentially change someone’s attitude for the day.
If you could have a super power, what would it be? – Personally, I would definitely want to be able to talk to animals. I am a huge animal lover so being able to conversate with them would be a dream. Professionally, I would freeze time! We wear so many different hats in our lives. If I could have more time, it would take so much stress away, and I cant help but think of all the extra work I could get done.
What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life? – I would have to say creativity. I do get to use it within our digital and social media marketing, and I’ve revamped our website, but I love creating more hands on. Whether it’s being creative with my sewing, cooking, sketching, etc.
If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? – Fashion design! Fun fact, I am also a fashion designer and have had the opportunity to work with Omaha, Kansas City, and Phoenix Fashion Weeks.
What is your favorite book or the last good book you read? – I am a Harry Potter adult, so that will be always be my favorite book series. However, I did recently read The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson, which I enjoyed.
What is your favorite local restaurant? – Rutabagas. I love that they have vegan/vegetarian options. I am always looking for when their pop-ups will be close to work for lunch.
