Tell us a little about your business.
SEBEK Lighting, LLC offers high-quality commercial and industrial LED lighting. We buy directly from the manufacturer which allows us to offer highly competitive prices to our customers. We work with industry leading manufacturers that offer UL and ETL certifications. All lights come with a five-year or 50,000-hour warranty against factory defects.
How did you get started in the business?
I built three commercial buildings and was aware that the lighting aspect was very expensive. I began to research and then made the manufacturer connections I needed to buy direct and pass on the savings to others.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally?
Staying ahead of new technology. Everything is constantly changing.
What has been your most important achievement professionally?
Starting and growing multiple businesses. Aside from Sebek Lighting, I also own Rolling Hills Trading, Inc., Bight Path LLC, and RiDa Investments.
Tell us a little about your family.
I’m a York native, and I’m happily married to my best friend and business partner, Dawn. We have three sons who are all out of the house now. We also have a Domesti-PUPs therapy dog named Pearl.
What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life?
I had a desk job for many years, but always knew the cubicle life wasn’t for me. About 9 years ago I needed a change and wanted to do something that would allow me to put all my skills to use. I took the plunge, never looked back, and decided to start Rolling Hills Trading.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?
I’m a bit of a “gearhead.” I have three classic Camaros and I love going to car shows and working on cars. Dawn and I also like to take one of our cars out now and then to cruise around town.
Who inspires you?
My wife is an inspiration; she’s always my voice of reason. I also have a close friend of 20 years who is a pastor. He has been a big source of encouragement and support in my life.
