In 2006, Sarah Allison  began making candles as a hobby.  She was struggling to cope with some family illnesses and found making candles for people calmed her.  Sarah’s hobby turned into a love and her love turned into a business, Hallow Candle Co.  Hallow Candle Co. is a locally owned and operated retail store that specializes in handmade natural soy candles, goats milk soaps, reed diffusers and spa products.  They use natural ingredients in all of their products, and also love to utilize recycled products as much as possible.  The store is located on 33rd and O and also displays and sells local photography, local hand crafted jewelry and greeting cards.

Tell us a little about your family. – I was married just over a year ago to Chris, and we’ve been busy renovating our house, traveling, and trying to stay young!  We have two dogs: Cotten, an American Eskimo and Kita, a Siberian Husky.  They serve as our children for now until things calm down!

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – When two of my close family members passed away from cancer a few years ago I took it very hard.  They were an unbelievable inspiration in my life from the time I was born and their passing gave me kick in the behind to do something big in my life.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – I have three things I love doing with my time (among others but these are my favorites!!)  Cooking and cleaning my house! (not a joke!), playing volleyball and going for a really long bike ride on Lincoln trails.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – I used to have bright pink and purple hair and I miss it soo much!

What are you the most proud of? – My husband for taking up some of the cooking since I’m always at the store now! (he’s pretty good at it too!)

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – Never give up.  If you think it’s worth it, go for it.

What is the one goal you would most like to accomplish? – I would like to change the world.

What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life? – All through high school I played flute/piccolo (and three other instruments). I became quite accomplished, and then after my first year of college decided I wanted to concentrate on classes more. I really regret that now.

Which talent would you most like to have? – I would love to be able to dance!

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? – I’d like to worry just a little bit less. I’m pretty high strung most of the time and I’d like to be able to turn that “off” when I leave work!

What is your favorite book or the last good book you read? – Anything by Janet Evanovich and the Harry Potter books of course!

What is your favorite movie? – Stranger than Fiction and Pride and Prejudice

What is your favorite TV show? – It’s between three right now: Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The League, and Outsourced

What is your favorite Lincoln restaurant? – Tandoor! LOVE Indian food!

If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be? – Donald Trump – he may have horrible hair, but he knows business, and I love learning so I would be quizzing him constantly trying to learn everything I could from him!
