Tell us a little about your business.
We offer much more than the average retail pharmacy. We offer free blister packaging and free medication delivery. We will even do an in-home consultation to assess your medication situation and help you sort through current and old medications, and dispose of anything that the customer is no longer needing or that may be expired. We offer a very high-touch level of customer service and are more of a “concierge” pharmacy.
How did you get started in the business?
I was hired on to a company as a float pharmacist out of pharmacy school, which meant that I filled in at their various locations across the state when they needed help. I enjoyed the many different people and settings I worked in, but along with that came some down sides. The customers did not have the same level of trust with me as the other pharmacists there, even though we had the same knowledge and education. I also didn’t ever get to know any of my patients/customers well because I was at a different store each day. With that, I decided that there had to be something more fulfilling out there for me, and if I couldn’t find it, I would create it! I started this pharmacy nine years ago, and I have never looked back.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally?
It has, at times, been a challenge to compete with the dominant corporate and large chains. They make certain aspects of pharmacy very difficult for us as the “little guy” in the game.
What has been your most important achievement professionally?
Building Nebraska LTC Pharmacy from the ground up! I started with five patients in a very tiny little office space. We are growing at a very quick pace right now, and I am so proud of everyone we have been able to bring onto our team due to our growth!
Tell us a little about your family.
I have a nine-year-old son, Liam, who is my entire world. He loves coming to work with me as there are often lots of long days and late nights here.
What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know?
I am an avid marathon runner and have competed in the Boston Marathon six times.
If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be?
Dedicated or loyal.
If you could have a super power, what would it be?
My son and I always talk about how cool it would be to be invisible.
If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be?
A professional athlete. I absolutely love the challenge of hard physical work, fitness, competition, and setting goals high!
What local nonprofit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why?
I got connected with the Lincoln Tree of Hope once COVID hit. I saw they had this amazing program where they were packaging food bundles for low-income families who would no longer be getting their main meal at school. That really hit me hard, and I knew I wanted to do something to be a part of that.
