Tell us a little about your business. – Underfoot is a commercial and residential floor covering business. Started by Mark and Kayla Dickenson almost 20 years ago. Purchased by my wife, Ela, and I in 2021
How did you get started in the business? – I am a generational tradesman in the floor covering installation industry. Trained by my father and brother.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – The switch from tradesman to entrepreneur.
What has been your most important achievement professionally? – The switch from tradesman to entrepreneur.
Tell us a little about your family. – Ela and I are a merged family of 10 and four grandkids. Our kids are all adults and off on their own paths. We love to travel as a family at least once a year. It gives the family a chance to bound as it continues to grow.
What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – The days when my children were born and the day I met Ela.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – Be with my family!
Who inspires you? – My mom! Shelia Schilsner/Hendrix.
What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – “You have to fight for your right to party” by Beatise Boys Be Kind.
If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Loyal.

If you could have a super power, what would it be? – Suspend time.
What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life? – Making music.

If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? – Sound engineer.
What local nonprofit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why? – Loaves & Fishes, Karen Lamb is a god send to our community.
What is your favorite book or the last good book you read? – My favorite book is On the Campaign Trail with Richard Nixon by Hunter S. Thompson. The last book I read was They Ask You Answer by Marcus Sheridan.
What is your favorite movie? – The Big Lebowski.
What is your favorite TV show? – Whatever my wife is watching.
What is your favorite local Lincoln restaurant? – Yia Yia’s.
