Tell us a little about your business.
We create artwork, print apparel, and signage, such as banners and decals for schools, sports teams, businesses, and personal events. We take care of everything from design to delivery, and we can fix anything quickly.
How did you get started in the business?
About 19 years ago, my husband had his own crop spraying business and he wanted to make hats for it. So, we bought an embroidery machine and set it up in our living room, and things just took off from there. We started out subcontracting screen printers until we bought our own. Now we have our own print shop with two brand new screen printers and a six-head embroidery machine.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally?
The rise in social media has been challenging to keep up with. I’m used to the days when a marketing strategy meant word-of-mouth. Before technology took over, it was a lot easier to match prices and keep business local.
What has been your most important achievement professionally?
The growth our business has had. I never would’ve guessed that we would be where we are now.
Tell us a little about your family.
My husband David is from Sumner, where the business got started. We have five children, 11 grandchildren, and one great grandson. A few of them are in Lincoln, attending the University, and the other ones are living in Kearney working for us. It’s definitely a family business.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?
When you have your own business, there are no days off. However, when I do get some free time, I spend it with my kids. I feel like I missed out on a lot when they were growing up, so I do my best to be there for as many special moments as I can be.
What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know?
I love to draw, especially flowers and landscapes. I also enjoy making quilts.
Who inspires you?
My husband.
What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
“Every day holds the possibility of a miracle.”
If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be?
Giving.
If you could have a super power, what would it be?
The ability to clone myself so I could be in four places at once.
Which talent would you most like to have?
Accounting. I handle the books for the business and it hasn’t necessarily been something that comes natural to me.
What is your favorite book or the last good book you read?
QuickBooks 2018 for Dummies.
What is your favorite movie?
I Can Only Imagine.
What is your favorite local Lincoln restaurant?
Texas Roadhouse.
If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be?
Warren Buffett. I’d love to sit him down and find out all of his secrets for success.
