Meet Terry Clark, Payroll Manager and Owner of TAC Payroll Solutions LLC (tacpayrollsolutions.com).

Tell us a little about your business. – TAC Payroll Solutions LLC is a locally woman-owned professional business providing customers with top-quality full-service payroll including multi-state payroll, Davis Bacon reporting and so much more. TAC also provides full-service bookkeeping along with sales tax reporting, 1099 preparation and more.

How did you get started in the business? – I got started when I was hired as a receptionist at a small CPA firm in Arizona. After a brief time as a receptionist, about three months, the CPA offered me a position as staff bookkeeper and payroll clerk. They paid for me to attend accounting classes at the local community college, and I continued working for CPA firms, except for a two-year stint as office manager for the Chamber of Commerce in Ogallala, Nebraska, for the past 24 years.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – All the last-minute changes government officials make.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Starting my own business and coming up quickly on my first anniversary of opening my office.

Tell us a little about your family. – I am originally from Columbus, where my mom, sister and her family still live. I met my husband while working for the same company in Columbus and we will have been married 28 years this October. We have six children and just had our seventh grandchild on May 19. We are empty nesters with the exception of our fur babies, a Havapoo named Max and a German Shepherd, Kota, both who just turned one this year.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – The day I met my husband and the day I started working for that first CPA in Safford, Arizona.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – It depends on the time of year. In the summer, we love travelling, camping and spending time in our backyard oasis. In the winter, we love cozying up in front of the fireplace. Recently, I started making projects with my new Cricut.

Who inspires you? – My husband.

What descriptive word would you like to be remembered by? – Loyal.

Which talent would you most like to have? – I wish I was a little more assertive or a better conversationalist in social settings.

If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? – I wouldn’t choose any other profession. I love what I do!

What local nonprofit are you passionate about and why? – Saint Jude’s because of my grandchildren. I’m lucky to have very healthy grandchildren, but I’m so glad for Saint Jude’s and that they are there for the children/grandchildren that are not so healthy.

What is your favorite book or the last good book you read? – I’m a big fan of the Janet Evanovich Stephanie Plum series of books. Sadly, I haven’t had the time to read for awhile so I’m a few books behind.
