Meet Tyler Klotz, physical therapist at Husker Rehabilitation and Wellness Centers (www.huskerrehab.com).
Tell us a little about your business. – Husker Rehab was first started in 1999 and now has grown to five different locations. We now offer two locations in Lincoln, one in Beatrice, one in Fairbury, and another clinic in Nebraska City. We treat a wide variety of patient’s and offer several different services including pre and post-operative rehabilitation, women’s health, sports rehab, back and neck, treatment for vertigo, chronic pain, and general orthopedic care. Treatments incorporate hands-on manual therapy techniques along with functional and postural -based exercises to restore normal and pain-free movement for our patients.
How did you get started in the business? – I started out with an athletic training major in college. I did some shadowing with a physical therapist as part of my curriculum and quickly found out I liked working with more of a variety of patients and diagnoses instead of just strictly the athletic population. I decided to get a job as a physical therapy tech in college, where my passion for the profession grew and confirmed that I wanted to pursue a career in physical therapy.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – The field of physical therapy is always changing and evolving. Since graduating physical therapy school, the biggest challenge for me has been trying to develop the most effective treatments for my patients and continuing to learn everyday to keep my knowledge and skills up to date.
Tell us a little about your family. – My wife Abby and I recently got married last summer and are enjoying the newlywed life. She is also a physical therapist in Lincoln. We first met as physical therapy techs at Husker Rehab back in college.
