Tell us a little about your business.

From commercial buildings, to equestrian facilities, to ornate or practical residential outbuildings, Morton Buildings manufactures and constructs our proprietary post-frame buildings with the option of serving the customer as a full turnkey general contractor. We have in-house engineering and architecture for our product nationwide, with a construction center located in Waverly. I specifically focus on the design-build commercial business in the Lincoln area.

How did you get started in the business?

I started with Morton Buildings shortly after graduating from UNK. I started on the crew erecting buildings and learning how they were built. I then moved to sales and have been in sales for two and a half years.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally?

Most people think of Morton Buildings as just “farm shops,” but we can do so much more than that. Educating people on what we’re capable of has been the biggest challenge.

What has been your most important achievement professionally?

Having customers write in saying that I was great to work with. I try to make sure that the building process goes as smoothly as possible.

Tell us a little about your family.

My parents live on a farm in St. Edward, NE where I was raised. (My dad also grew up in the exact same house.) My two sisters and I live in Lincoln. I also have a cat named Karen.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?

Hanging out with friends, hunting, and boating. I love the water. In the summer, I try to go to the lake as much as possible!

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know?

Growing up, I used to travel around and compete in rodeos. I have multiple belt buckles for team penning and riding steers.

Who inspires you?

My dad. He’s the hardest worker I know, and he always puts our family first. He’s taught me so many valuable lessons.

What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

“Sometimes I’ll start a sentence and I don’t even know where it’s going. I just hope I find it along the way.” – Michael Scott
