TeamMates: Lincoln Businesses Making a Difference and a Profit
The companies in Lincoln that are most focused on making a difference in our community are also some of the most profitable in the city. This is not happenstance, recent studies on corporate social responsibility (CSR) indicate that 87% of people will purchase products because a company advocated for a cause that they believe in.
People want to do business with caring companies. What better cause is there in a community than caring about its children?
Tom and Nancy Osborne founded the TeamMates Mentoring Program (www.LincolnTeamMates.org) in Lincoln in 1991 with the goal of impacting our community by helping students reach their full potential through mentoring. Having a mentor gives students a relationship that inspires them to achieve academically and attend classes regularly. The numbers prove this, too, with 55% of mentees showing an increase in academic success last year and 85% showing a decrease in absences.
As the number of students positively impacted by mentoring rises, the number of students waiting for a mentor also increases.
Lincoln TeamMates wants businesses to support mentoring at schools in their neighborhood and flex their CSR muscles. Your business could become part of this empowering dynamic for Lincoln students, helping schools find mentors. Join the team of businesses already positively impacting our schools and community!
