The Branched Oak Observatory (theboo.org) is excited to announce its First Annual AstroCon 2026, taking place Saturday, Aug. 15, from 6 to 11 p.m. This one-of-a kind family event will celebrate mankind’s fascination with space—from the golden age of science fiction in the 1950s and 1960s to today’s incredible discoveries.
Visitors take a journey through the history of space exploration while enjoying an evening filled with astronomy, comic book art, family activities and unforgettable experiences under the stars.
A special guest for AstroCon 2026 will be Marvel Comics legend Bob Hall, one of the industry’s most respected comic book artists and writers. Hall’s work has entertained generations of comic fans and helped bring many iconic superheroes to life.
Families are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite space-themed characters. Whether you’re inspired by astronauts, aliens, superheroes, or classic science fi ction, everyone is invited to participate in the AstroCon Costume Contest, with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place Awards being presented for the evening’s top costumes. Throughout the night, guests can also experience breathtaking views through the Observatory’s telescopes (weather permitting), Meet Mike the Meteorite, one of the Observatory’s most popular handson attractions, learn about the evolution of astronomy and space exploration from the early Space Race to today’s cutting-edge discoveries and enjoy an evening of family-friendly fun designed to inspire the next generation.
