The Green Gateau Celebrates 25 Years

The Green Gateau Restaurant and Catering Company celebrated its 25th anniversary in October.  The local support they have always received has been humbling, inspiring, and greatly appreciated.

The Green Gateau was opened by the Bill Livengood family on October 26, 1992, to provide the city with a comfortable, warm, and elegant restaurant serving an eclectic mix of fine food and freshly baked breads and pastries. As the popularity of the restaurant grew, so did its size. The restaurant added three rooms, expanded the hours of operation, and eventually opened The Green Gateau Reception Center at Windsor Stables in the building to the East.

Eric Lemke was hired as executive chef in 2000, was promoted to partner, and is currently sole owner with his wife, Cristi, who acts as banquet coordinator.

The restaurant and reception center serves contemporary American cuisine with European influences. They also offer a full bar, and source local and organic produce, dairy, meat, and wine. Specialties include house made desserts, fresh seafood, Nebraska Wagyu beef, and Eggs Benedict.

The restaurant has been awarded Best Sunday Brunch by the Lincoln Journal Star, Best Restaurant in Lincoln by TripAdvisor, many Awards of Excellence by Wine Spectator Magazine, and many other local and national online awards.

The Green Gateau Restaurant (402-477-0330) is open M-F 11-2/5-9, Sat. 8-9, and Sun. 8-3. The Reception Center at Windsor Stables (402-477-3444) is available for weddings, corporate events, and holiday parties, as well as offering full service catering.
