Legacy Retirement Communities (www.LegacyRetirement.com) and KFOR hosted the 2023 Jerry Joyce Living Legacy Awards Luncheon at Legacy Estates on June 13. The Jerry Joyce Living Legacy Awards were created in memory of the late Jerry Joyce, founder of Legacy Retirement Communities. These awards have been given annually since 2010 to honor the unsung heroes in the Lincoln community who exhibit the same kind of quiet, giving spirit that Jerry had shown others in his life. Each winner is given the opportunity to pay their monetary award forward to the nonprofits of their choice. This year, there were two $2,500 Jerry Joyce Living Legacy Award winners and one $1000 Legacy Caring Heart Award winner.

One Jerry Joyce Living Legacy Award winner was Ron Tegtmeier, who chose to donate his $2,500 to Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association and Center for People in Need. The second winner of the Jerry Joyce Living Legacy Award was Connie Plettner, who split her $2,500 between Nebraska Lions Foundation, Bridges to Hope, Camp CoHoLo, Matt Talbot and the Floyd Rogers Diabetic Foundation. The 2023 Caring Heart Award winner, Bill Roehrs, donated his $1,000 to the Food Bank of Lincoln and Pickleball Lincoln.

Congratulations to all Legacy Award Winners for 2023, sponsored by Legacy Retirement Communities and KFOR Radio. Thank you for all you do for the Lincoln community, and for leading by example.
