Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird will host the Mayor’s Interfaith Prayer Breakfast Thursday, May 7 in partnership with the Faith Coalition of Lancaster County. This year’s theme will be “Who is My Neighbor?”.
The event will be held at Venue 5 Twenty-Two, with doors opening at 7:30 a.m. and the program beginning at 8 a.m. The breakfast brings together community members, faith leaders, and residents from across the city to celebrate Lincoln’s diverse spiritual and cultural traditions.
This year’s keynote speaker will be Nebraska State Poet Jewel Rodgers, who will share reflections as part of the morning program. Tickets for the breakfast are available at lancasterfaith.org or on facebook.com/FaithCoalitionLC.
In addition to the keynote address, the event will feature a student essay contest inviting young writers to submit a personal narrative essay reflecting on the theme of “Who is My Neighbor?” Selected essays will be featured during the breakfast, with prizes awarded to student participants. The Mayor’s Interfaith Prayer Breakfast lifts up and celebrates the diversity of people, cultures, and faiths in Lincoln. Each year, the gathering reflects the importance of coming together across traditions, learning from one another, and finding joy in a vibrant and welcoming community.
