Star City BaconFest 2020 Postponed Until August 23

Nebraska Pork Producers Association (NPPA) has made the decision to postpone the Star City BaconFest (starcitybaconfest.com) from April 19 to August 23 at Embassy Suites by Hilton Lincoln. Other event details will remain the same, with doors opening at 4:30 p.m. and bacon sampling continuing until 7 p.m. The decision to reschedule came as a response to the CDC recommendations regarding the COVID-19 outbreak.

Bacon lovers who have already purchased tickets will receive an email from the NPPA explaining that their tickets will be good for the rescheduled date. Event organizers are halting the sale of tickets for now but plan to start selling tickets again this summer.

“We are sorry for the rescheduling, but we want everyone to be safe and stay healthy,” said Jane Stone, the NPPA’s domestic marketing director.

Star City BaconFest is an annual event sponsored by the Nebraska Restaurant Association (NRA) and the NPPA. Proceeds go toward scholarships for culinary students in Nebraska. Hormel Foods is providing products for the chefs to use during Star City BaconFest 2020. Admission is $25 for adults, with children 10 and under free. Tickets will go on sale again this summer at starcitybaconfest.com.
