Tobacco Free Lancaster County Celebrates Business Champions, Offers Assistance

The Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department (tobaccofreelancastercounty.org/business) is excited to announce that Tobacco Free Lancaster County (TFLC) is accepting applications for 2021 Tobacco-Free Business Champions. Last November, during the Great American Smokeout, Speedway Motors was celebrated as the first-ever Tobacco-Free Business Champion. TFLC wants to continue recognizing local businesses for doing their part in creating a healthier, tobacco-free community.

What makes your business a champion? Some examples include having strong policies that limit exposure to secondhand smoke and aerosol from e-cigarettes, offering cessation resources for employees that want to quit tobacco, and fostering a supportive environment throughout the quit journey.

Need some help becoming a champion? TFLC offers FREE support to businesses, schools, and multi-unit housing properties who want to implement or improve their tobacco-free policies. Contact them for a toolkit to get started, answers to technical questions, or no-smoking and e-cigarette use signage. You can even apply for financial assistance for resources, like custom signage to help champion your new or improved policy.

Funding is provided by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services/Tobacco Free Nebraska Program as a result of the Tobacco Master Settlement Agreement. TFLC wants to help as many people as possible, so all small businesses and minority-owned businesses are encouraged to apply. Learn more and share how your business is making a difference by applying to be a 2021 Tobacco-Free Business Champion by April 30 at tobaccofreelancastercounty.org/business.
