Founded in 1983 by dedicated community leaders and educators, SCIP (scipnebraska.com) was created to support high school students navigating substance dependence and its impact on learning. Today, that mission has grown with SCIP serving students of all ages across 164 schools in Nebraska.
Through a collaborative approach, SCIP supports students’ emotional and academic needs. By engaging parents/guardians, educators, administrators and other youth-focused agencies, SCIP helps schools create environments where students thrive. This shared vision has made both strategic partners in supporting youth and families.
With this formal partnership, TFLC and SCIP are excited to work together to expand outreach and explore new strategies to address the relationship between substance dependence, mental health and student success.
TFLC and SCIP have collaborated on several initiatives, with SCIP’s strong ties to Lincoln Public Schools and other Lancaster County schools playing a key role in the success of efforts like the mirror cling campaign and community outreach. Events such as Hop, SCIP, Jump and Run and various trainings have provided valuable opportunities for TFLC to engage directly with students, families and educators on tobacco prevention.
