Whitehead Oil Company and U-Stop Host Groundbreaking for Three New Businesses

Whitehead Oil Company and U-Stop unveiled its three new transformational retail concepts on August 20 at a groundbreaking ceremony held on location at 73rd and Pine Lake (behind Home Depot). Dignitaries in attendance to give remarks included Wendy Birdsall, president of the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce; Bud Synhorst, president of the Lincoln Independent Business Association (LIBA); Lincoln City Council Member Roy Christensen; and Governor Pete Ricketts. Mark Whitehead, president/CEO of Whitehead Oil, also took the opportunity to thank all the associates and partners involved in the planning process. This included Hampton Enterprises, Midwest Petroleum Equipment, Olsson, and many other subcontractors.

The first concept is a new U-Stop which will be over 8,000 square feet—the largest and most consumer-friendly store in U-Stop’s portfolio. This U-Stop will have a drive-up window which will allow their customers to purchase many of 100 pre-selected items without leaving their vehicle. For those with electric cars, this will be the first U-Stop location that will offer multiple 480 volt super chargers.

In addition, the new U-Stop will feature Jeannie’s Kitchen. This is Whitehead Oil Company’s first newly branded food service concept within the U-Stop store. Unique and healthy items as well as the comfort variety can be ordered through a touch pad in the store or picked up in the grab-and-go cooler. In-store dining will also be available.

The third part to the innovative gas station model is a Soapatopia Car Wash, which is Whitehead Oil’s first, newly branded tunnel wash concept designed to compete with the best tunnel washes in this market. This will have the finest car wash available at a competitive price whether you buy a single wash or elevate to any one of a number of unlimited wash options. Free vacuums will be available to both U-Stop customers as well as car wash customers.

Whitehead Oil Company hopes to have all three concepts open for business by the end of this year. This marks the 24th U-Stop location in the greater Lincoln area. To learn more, visit u-stop.com or email Teresa LaFave at tlafave@u-stop.com with any questions.
