This August, the Cornhusker Council, Scouting America (cornhuskercouncil.org) begins its annual fall recruitment campaign, inviting families across southeast Nebraska to discover how Scouting helps youth build character, confi dence and lifelong skills.
Today’s children face increasing challenges, from excessive screen time and social media pressures to bullying and negative peer influences. Scouting provides a positive alternative where young people develop resilience, leadership, responsibility and strong values through outdoor adventures, service projects and hands-on learning.
“Parents want opportunities that help their children grow into confident, caring and capable adults,” said Jeffrey Johnson, Scout Executive/CEO of the Cornhusker Council. “Scouting gives youth the chance to make real friendships, learn practical life skills and experience adventures that prepare them for success in school, work and life.”
Recruitment events will be held throughout August and September at schools and community locations across the council’s service area. Families can meet local volunteers, learn about Cub Scouting and Scouts BSA, and find a unit that fits their family’s schedule.
