The Epilepsy Foundation (epilepsy.com) is pleased to announce that all schools throughout the state will be significantly more Seizure Safe this fall thanks to Seizure Recognition and Response training at the Nebraska School Nurses Conference in June. Two hundred nurses from across the state completed the training and were provided with a toolkit to take back to their districts. As the school year kicks off, all school personnel will be trained to recognize and respond to seizure activity and students with known seizure disorders will have a seizure action plan in the hands of all staff members they interact with throughout the day. With one out of every 26 people having a seizure in their lifetime, roughly one student out of every classroom will be directly impacted by this training.
