Bridges to Hope (bridgestohopene.org) is all about second chances – it’s what they do. In order to tackle the obstacles that previously incarcerated individuals face when trying to find housing, the organization is dedicating a space near 27th St. and Leighton Ave. for a tiny home village.
These 200-500 square-foot homes will be built from donated construction material and the plan is to have them constructed by those who are currently incarcerated. There will be a Village Council that will make decisions on residents of the community. This unique project would be a first for Lincoln and Bridges to Hope is excited for the opportunity to see it happen.
Bridges to Hope, located at 3107 S 6th St., STE 107, provides services to men and women who have been released from incarceration and are making the transition to a productive life outside of the cell. Their fundraising efforts include Bud’s Thrift Shoppe (2226 O St.), which helps generate money for the sustainability of the organization—100% of the proceeds from the store go directly back to fund Bridges to Hope’s mission.
