Catholic Social Services Accepts Clothing Donations at Sites Across Lincoln

In addition to St. Louise Gift & Thrift at 2201 O St., Catholic Social Services of Southern Nebraska (www.cssisus.org) is making it more accessible for people to donate clothing items during this time by spreading seven additional donation trailers across Lincoln. The drop-off sites are located at:

  • Cathedral of the Risen Christ, 3500 Sheridan Blvd.
  • North American Martyrs, 1101 Isaac Dr.
  • Pius X High School, 6000 A St. – East lot
  • St. John Church, 7601 Vine St.
  • St. Peter Church, 4500 Duxhall Dr.
  • St. Patrick Church, 6111 Morrill Ave.

When people donate used clothing, shoes, belts, and purses to Catholic Social Services, some of those items are given to the poor or sold for revenue in their thrift stores. Now, in the Lincoln and Hastings offices, the items that can’t be given away or sold are being marketed as recycled material. Both locations now have balers that allow them to bale these items that are sold to recyclers. They then repurpose this material into such things as carpet padding, insulation, and more.

The mission of Catholic Social Services of Southern Nebraska is to perform the Works of Mercy in response to the call of God. Working together, their goal is to bring “Hope in the Good Life” to those they serve. Visit www.cssisus.org for more information.
