CEF of Nebraska Completes Training for Christian Youth in Action

Child Evangelism Fellowship® (CEF) of Nebraska (www.cefnebraska.org) completed three Christian Youth in Action® (CYIA) programs again this summer: CYIA North, May 19–24, at Camp Assurance near Belden, NE; CYIA East, June 2–8, at Camp Moses Merrill near Linwood, NE; and CYIA Central, June 9–15, at Whispering Cedars Baptist Camp near Genoa, NE. Scholarships were also given for those who couldn’t afford the camp and any tax deductible support from people and businesses in the community help cover those costs.

CYIA is a summer program designed and carried out by CEF of Nebraska to train young people in effective and engaging ways to teach children about Jesus. Teens attend a one-week training camp during which they learn to present the Gospel clearly, not only on a child’s level, but also to their peers and adults. They learn to counsel a child for salvation and lead a dynamic club (5-Day Club) ministry for kids. Many teens find themselves bored with little to do during the summer. After enjoying their “freedom” from school, they then can be hard pressed to find activities to keep them busy. CYIA provides teens ages 13 and up the opportunity to make an eternal impact in the lives of kids. Last year, nearly 150 young people from across Nebraska attended one of three CYIAs. After the training, the teens are expected to teach at least four 5-Day Clubs® (5DC), which are like Vacation Bible Schools in neighborhood homes, parks, day cares, and wherever children might be present.
