This summer, Christian Record Services, Inc. (www.ChristianRecord.org) celebrated its 55th year of providing summer camp experiences for children and adults who are blind or experiencing vision loss. Since beginning in 1967, over 50,000 campers have experienced camps through National Camps for Blind Children, a program of Christian Record Services.

This summer, campers enjoyed a plethora of indoor and outdoor activities at summer camps in Minnesota, Maine, and Washington. An additional camp will be hosted in Florida in September. Activities included horseback riding, archery, water skiing, crafts, cooking, and even a zip line over the lake.

One of the campers this summer, when asked what he would tell someone who hadn’t been to camp, said, “I dare you! You need to come to camp. If you try it, you’ll love it.”

Each camp is scheduled at a well-equipped site, chosen especially for the standard of excellence and geographical location. Committed staff and counselors are trained to meet the needs of legally blind campers who are between the ages of 9 and 65.

Do you know someone who is blind? Would they be interested in attending camp next summer? For more information on how to make this happen, please visit www.blindcamp.org.
