Community Action Offers Financial Assistance for Evictions, Utility Disconnect Notices

Community Action (communityactionatwork.org) is encouraging those with eviction or utility disconnect notices to apply for emergency financial assistance. Community Action’s Emergency Services program provides rent, utility, and deposit assistance to individuals and families experiencing or who are at risk of experiencing homelessness.

The presence of COVID-19, and its effect on the local economy, has caused many people in Lancaster and Saunders Counties to face financial uncertainty. In some cases, individuals and families are experiencing this uncertainty for the first time in their lives.

“Community Action is here and ready to provide payment assistance to those with an eviction notice or disconnect notice, or security deposit assistance to those transitioning out of homelessness,” said Michelle Martinez, community services director for Community Action.

Households in need of Emergency Services assistance from Community Action must call (402) 471-4515 to complete an application over the phone. Calls are accepted Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Calls are returned in the order in which they are received.
