Ditch the Cooped-Up Blues with Fresh Start’s First Spring Rubber Chicken Fling

If you’re feeling cooped up, Fresh Start (FreshStartHome.org) has the cure for you with their First Annual Picnic and Spring (Chicken) Fling event on Sunday, May 16, from 2 to 5 p.m. in Antelope Park, at 23rd to 33rd and Sheridan Boulevard. Set your alarm clucks for a Fresh Start “peck-nec” and join them for a rubber chicken toss tournament, terrible chicken joke contest, and other fun lawn games. This event will raise funds to support Fresh Start’s mission to empower women who are experiencing homelessness and help them change their lives. The event includes appetizers prepared by Relish Catering featuring locally grown produce from Robinette Farms. Don’t forget to have cash on hand to participate in other family-fun activities!

Fresh Start is a goal-orientated program designed to assist women through case management to overcome barriers to economic stability. Since its formation in 1991, nearly 1,800 women have called Fresh Start home. Tickets for the First Annual Fresh Start Spring (Chicken) Fling are $20 per person, and teams of four are encouraged for the tournament fun. Register by May 12 at FreshStartHome.org/events, but walk-ins are also welcome!
