Five Nines Officially Launches 2018 Scruff 4 Schools Initiative

Five Nines (gonines.com) is excited to bring the annual Scruff 4 Schools (www.scruff4schools.com) initiative back again this year in hopes of continuing the fight against childhood hunger in Nebraska communities during the month of November. The Five Nines team is raising food, funds, and awareness through several strategic efforts. Throughout the month of November, scruffy faces will be used as critical awareness, while nonperishable food items are collected at the offices of participating local organizations. The Five Nines Scruff Squad has also implemented a new “Driving 4 Donations” campaign to help collect nonperishable food items at local Hy-Vee’s throughout the state. Funds can also be donated on the Scruff 4 Schools website through a virtual food bank, as every dollar received can provide three meals to a child. All these efforts are meant to benefit the one out of every six Nebraska children who are food insecure.

Scruff 4 Schools was started by Five Nines to put a charitable spin on No-Shave November. On the final day of the month, Five Nines will stuff their Prius’ with food collected by Five Nines and its’ partners to be delivered to the Heartland and Lincoln Food Banks. All donations will benefit the Emergency Pantry in Lincoln and Pantry Packs in Omaha and Kearney. Both programs are for children currently on the backpack program waiting list in an emergency situation.
