Foster Care Closet recently announced their move to a new location in Lincoln to serve youth in the community. The current location at 643 S 25th St 8, Lincoln, NE will be closed to the general public from July 1 until September 9 while transitioning to the new location located in the Center for People building on N. 27th St.

During this time, the Foster Care Closet will continue to serve youth by appointment or via the mobile pop-up shopping events. Youth in foster care are able to select new seasonal wardrobes, shoes and essentials for free twice a year.

General item donation drop-off will be paused during the transition. The Foster Care Closet accepts donations of new items including clothing, sneakers, diapers, backpacks and hygiene items (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, deodorant)

The Foster Care Closet is a nonprofit passionate about restoring dignity to youth in crisis. They strive to give joy through choice for youth in two ways:

  1. They believe it restores dignity to the youth to be able to shop for themselves
  2. Every youth should have options of styles and sizes that best reflect their personalities and preferences.

There are currently 10 mobile stops across Nebraska including Scottsbluff, Sidney, North Platte, Kearney, Grand Island, Beatrice, Norfolk, Fremont, Winnebago Reservation and Lincoln. Last year over 1,900 children were served.
