Fresh Start Provides Safe Housing, Receives Support from New Covenant Church

Fresh Start (freshstarthome.org), an organization designed to assist women through case management to overcome barriers to economic stability, knows that home ownership is expensive. After an unkind winter, Fresh Start had a broken fridge, cracked pipe, water damage, and boiler repairs, totaling $8,009 in repairs. Thankfully, New Covenant Community Church’s congregation and an anonymous donor stepped up and helped fund more than half of these repairs, but Fresh Start are still in need of $3,359. These unexpected repairs, along with others that will be needed soon, are not possible without community support.

Donors often want to give tangible items, such as clothing and household items, and there are those who are interested in supporting a new, exciting program. Fresh Start absolutely loves those donations and that motivation, but the reality right now is that their shelter, a home to 24 women, is the biggest need. Without this home, they cannot provide a safe and healthy living environment for women to focus on returning home to their children, finding employment, and ultimately becoming a self-sufficient contributing member of the community.

To make a donation to Fresh Start, go to freshstarthome.org or call (402) 475-7777. Your generosity will support the 24 women currently living at Fresh Start and continue to provide hope for the 40 women on the waitlist.
