Habitat Lincoln ReStore Receives Grant From Nebraska Environmental Trust
Habitat for Humanity of Lincoln ReStore (lincolnhabitatrestore.org) has announced that it will receive $45,000 from the Nebraska Environmental Trust for the “Habitat Lincoln ReStore Donation Program” project. The Trust Board announced funding for the project at its meeting on April 5, 2018 in Lincoln. The project is one of the 105 projects receiving $18,301,819 in grant awards from the Nebraska Environmental Trust this year. Of these, 66 were new applications and 39 are carry-over projects.
Habitat for Humanity of Lincoln ReStore requested support for the purchase of a larger, more efficient, and reliable donation truck that will allow for growth of the number and size of donation pick-ups and in turn, more items diverted from the landfill. The new truck should arrive and be operating by August.
Habitat Lincoln ReStore has been in business for three years and has seen an increase in the number of large item donations over the last year, requiring heavy use of the donation truck. “Our current truck has served us well but has become inefficient and sometimes inoperable,” says ReStore Manager, Ken Montgomery. “The new truck will be much more reliable and be able to handle larger pick-up orders, as well as commercial donations.”
