Did you know that 1 in 7 children ages 3 to 17 has a current, diagnosed mental or behavioral health condition?

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to promote awareness, share resources and advocate for the mental health and well-being of children and adults. Maintaining good mental health is essential to everyone’s overall health and well being. Mental health conditions are common, manageable and treatable.

Seeking professional help is a sign of strength, not weakness. You don’t have to go through your struggle alone. And you aren’t alone – about half of Americans will meet the criteria for a diagnosable mental health condition at some point in their lives.

Many factors can contribute to a mental health struggle, including economic status, loneliness, current events, social media and so much more. But there are steps to take to prevent mental health conditions from developing or manage symptoms. A licensed, qualified mental health therapist can help. Help and hope are available. HopeSpoke (hopespoke.org) is here.

Since 1949, HopeSpoke has specialized in providing comprehensive behavioral and mental health services for children, teens and families in our community. Services are available for adults as well. Community support means mental health care is available for our community’s most vulnerable youth. This year’s Mental Health Awareness Month theme is ‘Turn Awareness into Action.’ Your donations will allow HopeSpoke to take action for our community, making sure no one faces economic barriers to treatment.

Contributions supporting HopeSpoke and Mental Health Awareness month can be made during this year’s Give to Lincoln Day event at https://givetolincoln.com/nonprofits/hopespoke.
