NCBB Calls for Community Participation in National Blood Donor Month

Every January, Nebraska Community Blood Bank (NCBB; ncbb.org) celebrates National Blood Donor Month. This is a time to recognize the life-saving contributions of blood donors. It’s also the perfect time for new donors to get involved and make a New Year’s Resolution to help save lives in 2020! NCBB invites members of the community to participate in blood donations during the month of January to give life-saving service to the community during a time when donations are typically low.

One in three people will need blood during their lifetime, whether it’s a family member, friend, or coworker. In order to keep up with the continuous demand, NCBB needs more than 1,000 donors every week to cover the needs of local hospitals and clinics. Hosting a blood drive is a great way to get your organization involved in the life-saving mission in the community; smaller groups can also give blood together by having a Donor Day at one of NCBB’s four donor centers. These events are simple to arrange and help ensure a stable community blood supply during the winter months, which are challenging for blood collection.

Resolve to be a lifesaver this year—get involved by hosting a blood drive at your organization or having a Donor Day with NCBB. Contact them at 1-(877) 486-9414 or visit ncbb.org to get started today.
