Registration is open for the 11th annual Pumpkin Run, which takes place Saturday, Oct. 13 at Pioneers Park in Lincoln. The one-mile trail run for kids is expected draw more than 3,200 runners and retain its title as the largest youth trail run in the nation.

Entry forms have been distributed through P.E. teachers at all Lincoln Public Elementary Schools as well as most parochial and surrounding-area schools. Those interested can also register online at NSCEvents.com/PumpkinRun.

The fee to run is $10 per child, and includes a T-shirt, a souvenir smash-light, a free kid’s meal at Mr. Goodcents and a free game of bowling at Sun Valley Lanes in Lincoln. For safety reasons, running in costume is prohibited.  Runners can enter through Oct. 12, but must pay a $3 late fee after Sep. 28.

The Pumpkin Run, which is conducted by the Nebraska Sports Council and sponsored by Allied Insurance and UNICO Group, is non-competitive, but a finish-line clock is displayed for those wishing to record their own time.
