Nebraska Sports Council Officers, Board Members Elected

The Nebraska Sports Council (NSC; NebraskaSportsCouncil.com) Board of Directors elected Jeff Maul as its 15th President at the NSC annual meeting held on Oct. 20, 2016.

Maul, Executive Director of the Lincoln Convention and Visitors Bureau, succeeds retired Nebraska National Guard Adjutant General Roger Lempke, now a staff member for Senator Deb Fischer.

Also elected were Rob Trebilcock as Vice President and Scott Haas as Secretary/Treasurer.

Trebilcock is the Senior Director of Major Giving for the United Way of the Midlands, and Haas serves as the Division Manager of Orthopaedics for CHI Health.

Roger Lempke, who served as President the past three years will remain on the Executive Committee as Past President.

Elected to the Board of Directors as at-large members were Mike Kemp, Associate Athletic Director at the University of Nebraska Omaha and Dr. Joanne Owens-Nauslar, President and Founder of Fitness Is Living.

Members re-elected to two-year terms include: Brian Larrington, Regional Manager for Merial LTD; Elmer Wessel, President of SourceOne; Denise Zwiener, Executive Director of Buffalo County Community Partners; Daryl Korinek, USVB/NCAA Volleyball Official; and Anita Jackson, Cornhusker State Games Disc Golf Director.

The Nebraska Sports Council Board meets quarterly and provides oversight for the Cornhusker State Games and other programs and events, which attracted more than 20,000 total participants in 2016.

The NSC is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization with a mission of providing quality sports competition for athletes of all ages/abilities and promoting healthy and active lifestyle choices. The organization is privately funded, mostly through participation fees, sponsorships and donations.
