Project Pink’d Delivers Hundreds of Healing Hearts Survivor Kits

A few times each year, Project Pink’d (www.projectpinkd.org) assembles volunteers to deliver Healing Hearts Survivor Kits to breast cancer survivors in the community. This year, distributions were made in June and September

Breast cancer survivors are faced with many unknowns throughout their treatment journey. While each mode of medical treatment is different and uncharted territory for the patient, Omaha-based non-profit, Project Pink’d, Inc. wants survivors who are going through the battle to know they are not alone.

Developed for breast cancer survivors by Project Pink’d survivors, the Healing Hearts program provides survivor kits to those newly diagnosed with hopes of making day to day life just a little easier during treatment. Each of the chemotherapy, radiation and surgical kits contain everything needed to make the survivors more comfortable; and that personal touch of a hand-written note from a Project Pink’d survivor is sure to brighten their day.

This program is personal for the many volunteers who assemble and deliver the kits. They’ve battled themselves, lost a loved one, or stood by in support of a family member or friend. Together, they gave back and gave hope, making special deliveries of over 700 kits to hospitals and treatment facilities throughout Nebraska and Western Iowa this year alone.
