School Community Intervention & Prevention (SCIP), a program of Lincoln Medical Education Partnership, will host its Spring Conference, “Building Bridges: Connecting Mental Health and Substance Abuse Support for Youth and Their Families,” on March 25, from 8 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. at Lincoln Firefighter’s Reception Hall, 241 Victory Lane.

The conference will feature Tony Hoffman, a nationally recognized keynote speaker and author who will share his experience of addiction, mental health, and recovery.

In addition to Mr. Hoffman, Whitney Chrisman, LIMHP, LADC, will discuss youth addiction and treatment. The day will end with Kymberly Caddell, LCSW, founder of Building Resilient Minds, who will speak on family addiction and building resiliency in traumatized youth.

SCIP is a program designed to bring together families, school and the community to support student behavioral and emotional health.

SCIP is funded (16% or $50,000) from the Strategic Prevention Framework-Partnerships for Success States grant (5H79SP083671-02) & (55% or $168,837.71) from the Substance Abuse Prevention, Treatment, and Recovery Services Block Grant (1B08TIO88119-01 through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, contracted through the NE DHHS, Div. of Behavioral Health. SCIP also receives (3% or $10,000) in state funding and (26% or $82,110) of funding from non-governmental sources, including United Way of Lincoln Lancaster County.
