Friendship Home (www.friendshiphome.org) invites the community to take a stand against domestic violence by participating in their annual Safe Quarters fundraising event.

Did you know that one in four women and one in seven men experience severe physical abuse by an intimate partner in their lifetimes? The rate of domestic violence changes over time, but the effect the abuse has on the survivors remains for a lifetime. Domestic violence isn’t just stalking or physical abuse. It is also verbal, emotional, sexual, psychological, and economic abuse.

Whether you are a survivor or a witness of domestic violence, you can feel powerless against the cruelty being inflicted. However, that isn’t the case, and you can make a difference right here in our community. October is domestic violence awareness month, and Friendship Home is the largest provider of confidential safe shelter for domestic violence survivors in our state. Safe Quarters is Friendship Home’s largest fundraising event, and this year they are celebrating 20 years of saving lives! On Sunday, October 9, teams of volunteers are needed to walk Lincoln’s neighborhoods and knock on doors to raise awareness and collect donations to support survivors of domestic violence. Will you join Friendship Home and Take a Stand? Your support makes YOU a part of their story of a safe future. You can Take a Stand; you can be the change.
