TeamMates Celebrates Graduating Seniors

The annual TeamMates (lincolnteammates.org/SB) Spring Celebration provides opportunity for mentors, family members and scholarship donors to celebrate the successes of senior TeamMates mentees. This year, 93 graduating TeamMates mentees were invited to celebrate at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Innovation Campus. During the event, 46 scholarships were awarded.

This year’s event saw several highlights including keynote speaker Luis Salazar, co-founder and CEO of Giving Tech Labs. Salazar held international executive positions for Yahoo, Microsoft (co-founder of Office 365), Xerox, and more. Salazar shared several tips that have seen him to his current place in life and spoke about finding your “ikigai,” a Japanese concept that means one’s purpose for being. “Your ikigai is your compass through life,” Salazar said as he addressed the students directly.

After the program, mentees were invited to lunch at Selleck Hall and got the chance to tour Innovation Studio, UNL’s new Makerspace on Innovation Campus.

The Lincoln TeamMates staff would like to thank all those who made the day possible, as well as all the family members, mentors and scholarship donors in attendance. Without them this celebration would not have been the success it was.
