The Arc of Lincoln is celebrating the start of summer with a dynamic lineup of June 2026 programs inspired by the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. These themed weekly activities offer individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) opportunities to celebrate the nation’s milestone through engaging, hands-on experiences that bring history to life. Participants will take part in a variety of activities designed to enhance the celebration while fostering connection, creativity and shared community experiences.
In addition, The Arc of Lincoln is launching its Summer Transition Program for youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities ages 14–21. Serving 10–15 participants, the program will be held Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon from June through mid-July. It focuses on preparing participants for adulthood through workplace readiness, self-advocacy and hands-on community experiences.
“Our summer programming is all about building confidence, connection and real-life skills,” said Executive Director Jennifer Stuhmer. “We’re creating opportunities for individuals to not only celebrate independence—but to live it in meaningful ways.”
The Arc of Lincoln also extends sincere thanks to the many individuals and businesses who supported Give to Lincoln Day 2026. These contributions directly support inclusive programming and expand opportunities for individuals with disabilities throughout the community.
