Lights, camera… chaos! The Nebraska Communities Playhouse (NCP) is thrilled to present the regional premiere of PIRATED!, a hilarious new musical romp inspired by Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance — with a glitzy 1930s Hollywood twist. Performances run August 15–17 and 22–24 at NCP’s theatre in Hickman.

Directed by JD Madsen, with music direction by Dr. Garrett Hope and choreography by Hannah Bertrand, PIRATED! throws audiences into the golden age of film, when silent movie stars struggled to stay relevant and studio execs prioritized profits over principles.

This screwball comedy explodes into a slapstick spectacle of backstage mishaps, mistaken identities, synchronized mayhem, and all the operatic absurdity you’d expect from a Gilbert & Sullivan spoof, updated for today’s audiences with wit, warmth and a whole lot of tap dancing.

PIRATED! is a love letter to classic theatre and old Hollywood, with a wink and a nudge,” says director JD Madsen. “The script is smart, the score is spectacular and our cast is bursting with energy. It’s fast, funny and absolutely packed with surprises.”
