Year-End Contributions to Community Action’s Gathering Place Total Over $182,900
Community Action’s (communityactionatwork.org) Gathering Place announced that it has raised over $182,900 through its year-end match campaign, far surpassing its original $156,000 goal. A match pool of $78,000 was created by 8 sponsors to provide $1 for $1 matches for all contributions, up to $78,000. With community contributions totaling over $104,900 and the match pool, the campaign raised a total of over $182,900.
This giving opportunity was possible thanks to generous match sponsors, including lead sponsor Acklie Charitable Foundation, as well as additional sponsors Rogers Foundation, Miriam Moeller Charitable Trust, Nebraska Presbyterian Foundation, INSPRO Insurance, Union Bank and Trust, Rotary Club #14 Foundation, and Bukaty Companies.
In 1982, six compassionate individuals founded the Gathering Place. In 2019, Community Action’s Gathering Place served over 29,000 meals—a record in recent years. The need for services like those provided by the Gathering Place has perhaps never been greater. Funds raised through the 2019 match campaign will assist the Gathering Place in keeping pace with this demand, and continue to enhance and grow its meal service provision.
Community Action’s Gathering Place is located in one of Lincoln’s highest poverty neighborhoods, just two blocks south of the Nebraska State Capitol Building. To learn more about the Gathering Place and other programs of Community Action, visit communityactionatwork.org.
