The YMCA of Lincoln (YMCALincoln.org) made the holidays a little brighter for children at Elliott, Pershing, and Campbell Elementary Schools. As the lead agency for the Community Learning Centers at these schools, the YMCA coordinates the annual Giving Tree program, which collected more than 2,000 gifts for students in kindergarten through fourth grade so that every child received a special holiday surprise this year. Gifts were delivered at each school by YMCA staff and volunteers on Friday, December 12 and Tuesday, December 16.

“Even when the world feels heavy, kindness has an incredible way of shining through during the holiday season,” shared Renee Yost, President and CEO of the Lincoln YMCA. “Our members and community lift up students year after year through this annual effort. It’s a true reminder of how generous people can be, and one of the most meaningful traditions we have at the Y.”

The YMCA of Lincoln leads the schools’ CLC program in providing before and after school care and summer programming to keep students safe, learning, and active while supporting their families. These programs have helped thousands of students improve academically and provided enriching experiences that they may not have had otherwise. The YMCA of Lincoln has served the community for over 150 years, promoting positive values through programs that build spirit, mind, and body for all.
