LaCresha Brooks was recently promoted to Development Director at Fresh Start (FreshStartHome.org). Ms. Brooks has been with Fresh Start since January 2024 as the development coordinator. She was appointed development director in July and now collaborates closely with Executive Director Monica Zinke to craft strategies related to donor stewardship, community outreach and event planning.
She currently serves as the event chair of Fresh Start’s signature event, Project Funway, held each November. As a director, Ms. Brooks will play a larger role in the leadership and strategic planning efforts of the organization.
“Ms. Brooks has been a great addition to the team and we are looking forward to growing our organization even more with her assistance,” shared Executive Director Monica Zinke. “She is a natural at building authentic relationships with people and has a passion for making our community a better place.”
When asked about the most important part of her work at Fresh Start, Ms. Brooks stated, “What inspires me most is watching women rise, heal and reclaim their real-life experiences with strength and purpose. I am driven by the power of transformation when someone realizes they are worthy, capable and determined. That’s what drives my work.”
Fresh Start is a residential program for women experiencing homelessness. Participants may live in the home for up to one year, during which time they develop an individualized goal plan and actively work towards goals related to employment, housing and health, among others.
