In 2025, Lincoln Airport (LNK) (LincolnAirport.com) achieved remarkable milestones, earning the title of Nebraska’s 2025 Part 139 Airport of the Year from the Nebraska Department of Transportation’s Division of Aeronautics. The award was presented on January 29, in Kearney, during the Nebraska Aviation Council Aviation Symposium. This recognizes LNK’s excellence in air service development, infrastructure investment, operational reliability, and community engagement.
The year saw significant expansion in air services. Breeze Airways introduced nonstop flights to Orlando, Las Vegas, and Orange County, while American Airlines added new routes to Dallas-Fort Worth and Chicago, along with seasonal service to Phoenix. These additions nearly doubled daily departures and are projected to generate approximately $75 million in new economic impact for the region.
Infrastructure advancements were also a highlight. LNK embarked on the largest project in its history: a nearly $100 million rehabilitation of Runway 18/36, one of the Midwest’s longest runways at 12,901 feet, originally used for B-47 bombers operating at the Lincoln Air Force Base. This project, fully funded through federal, state, and local partnerships, underscores the airport’s commitment to modernization and operational excellence.
Industry recognition further cemented LNK’s status. Rachel Barth, Director of Marketing & Air Service Development, represented the airport as a panelist at the 2026 Air Service Data Seminar in New Orleans, sharing insights on LNK’s strategic growth and community support.
As the official airport of Husker Athletics, LNK proudly supports the teams and fans that bring spirit to the region. With a year marked by expansion, innovation, and community involvement, Lincoln Airport has firmly positioned itself as a pivotal hub in Nebraska’s aviation landscape.
