Tell us a little about your business. – At Apex Advantage Bookkeeping (apexadvantage.pro), we do more than just the books. We help business owners understand their numbers so they can make confident decisions. Whether it’s bookkeeping, coaching, or strategic conversations, our goal is simple: clarity and confidence.

How did you get started in the business? – I’ve always been drawn to helping people, especially when it comes to simplifying things that feel overwhelming. I saw a gap where business owners had financial data but didn’t truly understand it. That’s where Apex started: bridging that gap and turning numbers into something useful and empowering.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – Learning to transition from doing the work myself to having a team. As business owners, we tend to hold on to everything. Letting go and trusting others has been one of the hardest, but most necessary, steps for growth.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Working closely with business partners to align them around shared goals. I facilitated a four-hour retreat with one partnership where misalignment was costing them momentum. By taking time to understand each owner’s ideas, we identified how their differences were actually the foundation of their competitive advantage. Once they saw that, everything shifted. The next year, they grew revenue by 10%. But the real win? They found the cohesion to keep moving forward together.

Tell us a little about your family. – I’m a proud grandfather to Jackie and Adrian, and I’ll be welcoming another grandchild in November. My kids, Ainsley and Avery, keep me grounded and remind me that success isn’t just measured in dollars. It’s measured in time, relationships, and legacy.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – Choosing to bet on myself and start my own business. I’ve always been a dreamer. When I was a teenager, I wanted to start a business, but I didn’t take action. What changed was believing in myself enough to take that first step, then the next one. Action in business is so important. You don’t have to have it all figured out. You just have to start.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – Spending time with family is non-negotiable. And honestly, I nerd out on what can build improvements in business. Even on my days off, I’m thinking about systems, strategies, and how to serve our clients better.

Who inspires you? – Growing up, I saw my Tios and Tias thriving in business in their own ways. My inspiration comes from my family that came before me. I hope to be just a little bit of the inspiration that I was able to witness in them.

What is your favorite quote? – “You never know what’s around the corner. It could be everything. Or it could be nothing. You keep putting one foot in front of the other, and then one day you look back and you’ve climbed a mountain.” — Tom Hiddleston.

What local nonprofit organization(s) are you passionate about? – I volunteer as a business mentor with RISE Reentry Program in Omaha, working with participants in their business course to help them prepare pitches and launch ventures. It’s exactly where my passion for coaching comes to life: helping people rebuild and move forward.

What is your favorite book? – “Extreme Ownership” by Jocko Willink and “Never Split the Difference” by Chris Voss. Both books talk about leadership, complete ownership in outcomes, and how to interact with people.
