Tell us a little about your business.
At Eyes On Lincoln we pride ourselves in “Comprehensive Eye Care, Quality Eyewear” for the entire family. Our eye exams provide a complete assessment of your eye’s health and vision needs. Our experienced opticians bring many years of experience and offer the latest optical styles and technology. Their expertise assures the frames and lenses fit properly and that the prescription is accurate.
How did you get started in the business?
Almost 10 years ago, a friend of mine had an eye appointment. The place she went was in need of an optician and she thought my personality would fit well with this type of job. The only thing about the optical business I knew of was what eyeglasses were, but decided to give it a try. I honestly didn’t think I would last a year; however, 10 years later, after being trained and educated in the optical field, I can proudly say I love being an optician!
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally?
About six months ago I had to make a decision to find the right work environment for me, despite my 9 ½ years of service to my patients. Eyes On Lincoln has given me the opportunity to continue to do what I love to do.
What has been your most important achievement professionally?
That I have gained the trust of so many families with their eye care needs. The same smiles that come back year after year to see me because they know I will take care of them as if they were my family gives me a great sense of achievement.
Tell us a little about your family.
I am the proud mother of my 15 year old daughter, Valencia Blue. She is my world!
What do you see as one of the biggest turning points I your life?
When I decided to move from New York to Lincoln, NE.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?
When it is nice out, I enjoy fishing or at least being near water. If it’s fall, I’m usually watching football.
What are you most proud of?
Knowing I have impacted so many people over the past decade I’ve been in the optical profession.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Live every day as if it were your last.
If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as what would it be?
Animated.
If you had a theme song, what would it be?
Killer Queen by Queen.
If you could have a super power, what would it be?
To fly.
If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be?
I’d be a chef.
What is your favorite book or the last good book you read?
The last book I read was Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer.
What is your favorite movie?
Back to the Future.
What is your favorite TV show?
Modern Family.
What is your favorite local restaurant?
Mazatlan. Such great food and great employees.
