Tell us a little about your business.

Edward Jones was built on the idea that financial advising needs to be face-to-face, not over the phone or via email. Your financial advisor is your long-term financial partner. At Edward Jones, we use an established process to find out what’s important to our clients and focus on where they are today, where they want to be, and how we are going to get them there. I believe this process is the best way to develop a personalized financial strategy. At Edward Jones, we make sense of investing.

How did you get started in the business?

My dad has been a financial advisor for Edward Jones for 26 years. I was an occupational therapist, but then in January of 2016, I took a leap of faith and found myself here.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally?

Achieving the illusive work-life balance everyone talks about.

What has been your most important achievement professionally?

Learning to jump from the healthcare field to financial advising. I’m still helping people, just in a different way.

Tell us a little about your family.

My husband Brendan and I have two children, our daughter Kate who is five-and-a-half years old and our son Dawson who is three-and-a-half. We also have a dog named Andre. He’s my running partner.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life?

When I was a freshman in college, I specifically remember my mom telling me that I needed to quit thinking about myself and start thinking about others. That changed my outlook on life.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?

I really enjoy doing yard work. Otherwise, I love to sit in my sun porch with a cup of coffee and watch my kids play. It feels good to slow down and just take it all in.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know?

I know a lot of random facts about a lot of random things. My nickname used to be Beth-opedia.

What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

“Some will, some won’t. Who cares? Who’s next?” To me, this means that there will always be people in your life who believe in you and there will always be some who won’t. Keep moving forward.
