Tell us a little about your business. – Our business is Tredz Central Tire and Trailer Sales with locations in Cortland and Lincoln, NE. Located in the heart of the Midwest, we built our business on selling high-quality tires and wheels for unbeatable prices and fast, dependable service. Today we manage over 50,000 square feet of space, dedicated to selling and shipping tires, trailers and truck beds to all 50 states. We have one of the largest inventories in the Midwest for agricultural tires, commercial tires, OTR tires and rubber tracks, along with trailers and truck beds. We inventory and sell more than eight different brands of trailers and truck beds, ranging from livestock, tilt bed, dump and utility trailers.
How did you get started in the business? – My passion for cars, trucks, tractors and trailers when I was young attracted me to the tire and trailer business. In 2008, I was 16 years old when my family started Tredz Central and began selling tires. I went to college at UNL and majored in Ag Business. Following college, we expanded the tire business and started the trailer sector of Tredz Central.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – The biggest challenges we face are navigating trade tariffs when purchasing tires and wheels from around the globe, as well as delegating responsibilities as the business grows. We focus on providing our employees with the tools and training they need to be successful.
What has been your most important achievement professionally? – The addition of trailer sales brought a significant amount of responsibility to my plate right out of college. Building this part of the business from the ground up required learning a new industry, developing supplier relationships, understanding customer needs and figuring out how to effectively manage and grow the operation. One of my most important professional achievements has been taking trailer sales from nothing to becoming one of the largest distributors of trailers and truck beds in Nebraska and the Midwest.
Tell us a little about your family. – My wife Molly and I live near Hickman, NE, and have been married for 9 years. We have three children: Eleanor, 6; Kallie, 3; and Colt, 4 months.
What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – Building our 25,000 square foot facility in Cortland, Nebraska was a huge turning point for our business in 2018. This allowed us to inventory more products and improve our efficiency as a company. Most importantly, it allowed Tredz Central to grow into the company it is today, and we continue to strive to be better and do better.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – During my time off, I enjoy working outside with my family and spending time with our livestock.
If you could have a super power, what would it be? – Predicting the future. It would be pretty useful to know what’s coming next and be prepared for whatever life throws my way. I would also love to be able to multiply myself to get tasks done more efficiently.
What is your favorite local Lincoln restaurant? – Sushi at Hiro 88 is one of my favorite local spots in Lincoln.
